LatinoProsperity is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the Latino wealth gap through national, state, and local advocacy. Our core strategy focuses on relentless advocacy for equitable policies that empower Latinos to build and sustain wealth. Orson Aguilar is a nationally recognized leader in economic justice and wealth-building for communities of color. Born and raised in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, Orson's personal experiences have fueled a lifelong commitment to social justice and equity. He brings deep expertise in public affairs, policy development, advocacy, and community engagement—skills he now proudly brings to LatinoProsperity.
Orson has led major campaigns and policy efforts throughout his career, serving as President of the Greenlining Institute, Executive Director of the UnidosUS Action Fund, and Senior Director at Oportun. In each role, he has built coalitions, mobilized communities, and driven equitable policy change for underserved populations.
He currently serves on the boards of The East Los Angeles Community Corporation, GreenLatinos, Innovate Public Schools, and Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice. Orson has also held advisory roles with institutions like the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, BBVA, and PG&E.
Orson's leadership has been recognized by state and national leaders. In 2018, Assemblymember Rob Bonta honored him with the Equity Champion Award. In 2019, Congresswoman Barbara Lee recognized his contributions in the Congressional Record, and Oakland’s mayor declared April 26 as “Orson Aguilar Day.” He has testified before Congress and been featured in outlets such as The Los Angeles Times, CNBC, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Univision, and Telemundo.
