Latina Wealth in America: From Data to Action

Summary

LatinoProsperity convened more than 60 leaders in Los Angeles to examine the structural forces driving the Latina wealth gap and the bold, research-driven solutions needed to close it. The gathering brought together researchers, advocates, and cross-sector leaders for a morning of findings, candid dialogue, and a shared commitment to action.

Presentations were delivered by Marlene Orozco, PhD (LatinoProsperity), Dr. Elsa Macías (Hispanas Organized for Political Equality), and David Hayes-Bautista (UCLA CSLHC), moderated by Julissa Arce. Remarks were also offered by Cielo Castro, German Cash, and Adriana M. Mendoza, PhD.

Key themes from the convening: the Latina wealth gap is structural, not individual; Latinas fuel our economy yet face persistent barriers to long-term wealth building; cross-sector collaboration is essential; and data, storytelling, and community voice must drive policy.

The insights from this gathering will directly inform the Latina Economic Opportunity Agenda — a comprehensive policy blueprint to be developed in 2026 in partnership with leaders across sectors.
